EASA Part 21 Subpart J Design Organisation Approval
Description
This course will discuss in general terms the legal and regulatory system, as defined through (EU) 2018/1139, and in detail (EU) 748/2012.
Annexed to Commission Regulation (EU) No 748/2012 is Annex I (Part 21). EASA Part 21 Subpart J details the elements required of a design organisation in order to hold an EASA Design Organisation Approval (DOA). EASA grants privileges for the DOA to design new products, product modifications or repairs and may include approval for these designs.

Who Should Attend?
Personnel involved in design engineering having Design Organisation Approval (DOA) or considering to apply for such an approval. It is also applicable and valuable to the management and its staff of such organisations, e.g. Head of Design Organisation, Chief of Office of Airworthiness, Chief of Independent System Monitoring, Compliance Verification Engineer, Certification Manager, Quality Manager, as well as Office of Airworthiness and Engineering staff.
Regulators or Aviation Authorities who are interested to be familiar with EASA DOA system or intend to implement such system in their country and/or who consider applying for an EASA DOA in support of a STC / minor change / repair approval.
Content:
Regulations and requirements for Design Organisation Approval (DOA) according to EASA Part 21 Subpart J. The content of the training course includes several examples of different EASA DOA to promote learning and gain practical knowledge. An in-depth view will be given on the classification of changes and repairs, which will be explained, and under which conditions these changes are approved under the privilege of the DOA approval or EASA.

About the Trainer:
Mr Tang Wee Hong, ALT Aviation Solutions
Mr. Tang is an International Aviation consultant with over 26 years of experience and knowledge on Narrow and Wide Body Aircraft with International Airlines, Private Jet (VIP & VVIP) & Business Jet Operators, Leasing and Maintenance (MRO) Companies. He had managed, contributed to the growth and success of multiple international aviation organisations and was a Lecturer from Singapore Polytechnic that initiated the first Aeronautical course in Singapore.
Graduated from The University of Sheffield (United Kingdom) with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours in Mechanical Engineering), he continued to pursue and obtained a Master of Science (Mechanical Engineering) from The National University of Singapore. He had obtained EASA DOA for various Design Organisations and held the Head of Design Organisation & Compliance Verification Engineers (Cabin Safety and Mechanical Systems) for these organisations. In addition, he was the Design Signatories (Cabin Safety and Mechanical Systems) for CAAS DOA. Also, he was a Canadian Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) Certificate Holder and Accountable Executive.
Mr. Tang had spearheaded and participated in the successful attainment of Singapore first STC issued under the Singapore (CAAS) – United States (FAA) Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA) and subsequently for The Government of the Republic of Singapore to obtain further agreement from The Government of the United States of America on the Implementation Procedures for Airworthiness (IPA).
