EASA Part 145 One Day Refresher Course
Description
This course provides participants with an overview of the latest EU Rule EU 2021/1963 with changes to EASA Part 145. It also includes changes to CAA Malaysia Part 145 (as contained in their CAD 8601 and CAGM 8601).
This course is designed for participants who have previously attended the full EASA Part 145 course and now need to understand the differences introduced by Regulation (EU) 2021/1963 following the publication of this rule in November 2021 and which apply from December 2022.
This new EASA rule has significant changes to the Management System, applying Safe Management System (SMS) i.a.w Annex 19, occurrence reporting and addition of additional paragraphs in Part 145.
*EASA requires full compliance of SMS in Part 145 organisations by 2 December 2024
By the end of this course, participants will demonstrate an understanding of the followings:
- Broad understanding of EASA 145 and the latest updates including the new EU Rules
- CAA Malaysia CAD 8601 and CAGM 8601 – CAAM Part 145

Who Should Attend?
This course is suitable for individuals working in EASA Part 145 MROs or with oversight of the continuing Airworthiness Management of all aircraft types, and Organisations that hold a CAA Malaysia Approval for Maintenance. It is equally suitable for both commercial and non-commercial owners and operators.
Participants should have previously attended an EASA Part 145 course in order to have the foundation to appreciate this one day course.

- An awareness of how the UK CAA is introducing SMS into UK Part 145 organisations
Participants should review the new Regulation (EU) 2021/1963, Part 145 course notes/handouts and preferably bring them for reference and guidance. A review of CAA Malaysia Part 145 as contained in CAD 8601 and CAGM 8601 would be advantageous.
About the Trainer:
Mr. Devan Ramasamy, Airworthiness Surveyor
Devan is an Airworthiness Surveyor working with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA), Safety Regulation Group. He has been with the UK CAA for fifteen years and has been based in regional offices in the UK where he provided avionics support in addition to his role as an Airworthiness Surveyor. His duties have included the survey of aircraft for issuing Certificate of Airworthiness / Airworthiness Release Certificates and regulatory oversight of Part 145/Part 21/Part M subpart G organisations.
Devan was selected to be an EASA Inspector to carry out standardisation audits of Competent Authorities within Europe. He worked for the General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates from Nov 2009 to March 2012 where he was involved in the introduction of CAR M (similar to EASA Part M) and the training of GCAA Inspectors in CAR 145/CAR M and other ICAO regulatory functions. As a result of his experience, he was tasked with the oversight of a major airline and a highly prestigious air operator within the region.
Prior to joining the UK CAA in 1998, Devan was a Licensed Engineer (Avionics) with airlines/MROs based in the UK and overseas before becoming a Quality Engineer in 1989. His last position before joining the CAA was as a Quality Manager for a major airline. He currently holds an EASA Part 66 Licence (categories B1/B2/C).
Devan is a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society and an Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council of the United Kingdom.
