This helps to reduce cost and helps organisations to be more efficient and competitive. It is also an important foundation for Industry 4.0, as streamlined operations and optimising processes ensure only value-added activities are digitised or automated.
LEAN can be applied to all corners of the enterprise by every employee and for all industries. It helps to build continuous improvement culture and to break down silos within the organisation. PRE-REQUISITES
- Applicants should possess a degree in any discipline or a diploma with a minimum of 3 years of related working experience.
- Applicants who do not have the required academic qualifications are still welcome to apply, but shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview for special approval.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Content:
The objective of this programme is to learn and apply LEAN and Industry 4.0 tools and techniques through immersive learning at an A*STAR Model Factory.
This programme consists of 2 full-day sessions covering practical methods for identifying wastes (non-value-added activities), performing root-cause analyses, and applying LEAN and Industry 4.0 tools & techniques. At the end of this programme, participants will become LEAN leaders, who will commence on their own LEAN journeys to train colleagues and support LEAN and culture within their organisations towards achieving continuous process and productivity improvement.
Upon Completion
Participants will be awarded with a Certificate of Attendance (COA) by ARTC if they meet the following criteria:
– Achieve at least 75% course attendance;
– Take all assessments; and
– Pass the course.
About the Trainer:
Ms Priscilla Tan, a Principal Research Engineer with A*STAR SIMTech, is the Lead for LEAN Manufacturing Initiative. She has more than 25 years of Industrial experience with companies in the consumers electronics, semi-con, marine and contract manufacturing sectors. She specialises in Operations Excellence and LEAN Manufacturing in Total Value Chain. She has mentored several companies of various industries for the past 4 years in A*STAR Digital Transformation programmes. She has successfully spearheaded LEAN teams, training leaders and LEAN champions in achieving productivity gains of more than 20%~80%. Using her vast experience, she has mentored numerous companies of varying industries in Operation Excellence and LEAN implementation, bringing about multi-fold of tangible productivity gains. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering from the National University of Singapore.
Mr Joseph Ng has more than 25 years of experience in management systems in wide-ranging industries. He has held a wide ranging of roles with companies including management roles with SGS in Asia and has implemented LEAN in companies such as Chevron Australia. Mr Ng has provided consultancy, training and auditing for over 500 companies in more than 10 countries such as Singapore, China and Australia. He has conducted more than 30 batches of LEAN programmes at SIMTech for industries of various sectors. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Strathclyde, UK and a Master of Engineering from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a Master of Science from the National University of Singapore.
Mr Toh Ming Hon, with the SIMTech Team, has been mentoring few tens of companies for the Operations Management Innovation (OMNI) Programme & Digital Transformation & Innovation (DTI) Programme. He has trained participants to be Productivity Champions, helped them to learn how to develop productivity initiatives & guided them to follow up on implementation through productivity execution method. Succeeded with significant LEAN Transformation & productivity improvements for companies, including the application of Digital Technologies, new skillset, enhanced ownership, having much more effective and efficient company operations. Ming Hon holds Honours Degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from University of Birmingham and a Master of Business Administration from Edinburgh Business School.
Dr Roland Lim has strong expertise in operations management, manufacturing & supply chain strategy, and LEAN management for productivity planning & implementation. His industry experience has enabled him to gain extensive knowledge of the best practices and solutions to tackle various business challenges. He holds an EngD in Industrial Engineering, and MSc & BEng in Engineering.
