Part 21 J – Design Organisation Approval
Description
Part 21 Subpart J details the elements required of a design organisation in order to hold a CAA/EASA Design Organisation Approval (DOA). It outlines the requirements and procedures for the design, production, and approval of parts, appliances, and materials used in aviation.
Subpart J sets forth the responsibilities of manufacturers, suppliers, and applicants seeking approval for the production of aviation products, including the need to demonstrate compliance with applicable design and airworthiness standards.
The regulation encompasses aspects such as design data, quality systems, production control, and conformity assessment procedures. Compliance with Part 21 Subpart J ensures that aviation components meet the necessary safety and performance standards, contributing to the overall airworthiness of aircraft and the safety of flight operations.
By the end of the course delegates will demonstrate understanding of the following through presentations and group discussion:
- How their organisation should comply with the regulation
- Process used by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to carry out continued surveillance to Part 21 Subpart J
- Process used by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to carry out continued surveillance to Part 21 Subpart J
- How to prepare an organisation for an efficient and effective on-site assessment and surveillance
- How to maintain a Part 21 Subpart J approval ensuring compliance at all time
